Research Centers under Sri Lanka Department of Agriculture (SLDOA)

Introduction

Department of Agriculture's research is conducted based in three commodity research centers, rice, field crops and horticultural crops., six regional research and development centers and 18 regional research centers. Field crops are defined as annual crops other than vegetables. Horticultural crops include vegetables and fruits. The third category includes fairly small operational entities and focus on research needs of a specified geographical area. esearch units function with close co-ordination with extension and traniing divisions. Agecon research in the system is guided by the Socio-economics and Planning Center (SEPC) and Progress Monitoring and Evaluation Uni (PMEU).
